Mariano Aguayo Abogados is
a professional firm specialized in the industrial energy sector.
The firm was founded in 1992. Since then the office has drawn an independent
line of defense for a great number of companies in the energy sector,
that entered the market after the demonopolization process of C.A.M.P.S.A.
(Spanish Lessee Company of the Monopoly).
In 1993, the firm defended businessmen in the first conflicts emerged
after the adaptation to the new stage of the liberated market of exclusive
supplies agreements. During the following years, the firm established
itself as the reference in the energy sector.
In 1995, the firm was elected by a group of businessmen lead by Mr.
Andres Delgado, to establish the Association of Owners of Petrol Stations
of Andalusia, with its headquarter in Cordoba. This Association from
the moment of its founding, has successfully defended the interests
of the owners before different national and EU Authorities. Since
1997, Andres Delgado has been the chairman, and Mariano Aguayo the
secretary-general. Since their appointment as such, the Association
has attained national scope, integrating entrepreneur and businessmen
from different areas of Spain
During these years, the firm acted as intermediary in a great number
of negotiations, to adjust the supply conditions to the free market
circumstances; being successful in the negotiated resolutions of numerous
conflicts.
In 1998, the firm set up in Madrid, where it opened a large campaign
of complaints before the Spanish and EU Authorities, against restrictive
anti-competitive practices employed by some operators, in particular
before the Servicio Español de Defensa de la Competencia (Anti-Trust
Office) and the Directorate-General IV in Brussels.
The process culminated in both court decisions from the Restrictive
Practices Court, May 30 2001 and July 13 2001, in which Cepsa and
Repsol were ordered to modify their contracts.
Throughout its career, the firm has been bringing in diverse professionals
that are a reference in the energy sector, as well as in the commercial,
civil, and tax fields.
